Webovert

On the sunday morning, I was reading the Times of India and my little cousin was studying, rather mugging some English words. He asked me the meaning of the word, Introvert. I told him casually, the person who is always indulged in his own thoughts and shy on the social interaction scale is called as Introvert. "Then what is the opposite of it?", he fired back instantly. Extrovert, I responded. "Oh, that means a person can either be Introvert or Extrovert?", he asked innocently. "Nope, depending upon the situation, someone may be introvert sometime and extrovert at other times. They call it Ambivert. "So all the people has to be any one of these three?", my cousin was desperate to catagorize the human species. I kept mum, but I knew that there were another kind of human race, which was evolving fast enough, they were neither introvert nor extrovert, they were webovert.

This kind of people are introvert in real life. They have such a low profile in social life that they are nearly invisible but you can find them profoundly stating their own opinions and judgement over social media. They debate on different issues on internet forums but could not utter word in group discussions. I remember a friend of mine, who always used to chat with girls on facebook or orkut but never gathered the courage to talk with them in college lunch breaks. The main reason for their extrovert nature on web was the fact that they knew that they won't be judged instantly for their statements. Web chats always give you enough time to smartly decide the next move for the oncoming response or comment. The attitude of freedom of speech intensifies on web, whether it be facebook status or blogging. In earlier days, you have to be either writer or columnist to address large amount of reader crowd but today social interactivity has manyfolded, thanks to facebook, twitter, wordpress etc.

Do you think I would have discussed all my view to you, face to face. Thank God, I am Webovert!!!!
