Time Machine 6

When Rohan wake up, he found himself on the ground of the same place where he was 3 years ago. It was night time, he checked once again the CURRENT DATE and TIME in the machine. It was 20 Aug 2014 and it was 3.00 am. He felt exhausted, from head to the legs, every part of his body was aching. He carefully watched the surrounding and found no guards on duty, on the contrary, there were students wandering in groups, talking some technical stuff. The other building on the next turn must be the library, Rohan thought as many students went inside and out with handful of books, even at that time. Most of them were of his age only, 'there should be no problem in entering the library', Rohan decided to wait into library till sun rises and all staff comes back to the college. But as he reached entrance, he found the doors were locked and could only be opened by the swapping the Id card. 'I must accompany someone to get in.', he thought and started looking at the incoming crowd. He found no friendly faces. 'Maybe some Indian or at least Asian guy', he prayed but none came. Then within few minutes, the crowd started fading. 'I must ask someone, otherwise I have to stand in the cold', he instructed himself. He saw a girl coming from the corridor, as she came near he noticed her to be American as she had blonde hair, he gathered his courage and approached, "Excuse me, can I talk with you for a moment?" "Yes", she asked defensively. She was surprised to see a boy in the Tshirt, three-forth and slippers wandering in the cold night. "Actually I forgot to bring the Id card with me, I have to get in the library, can you help me get in?", Rohan spoke it all monotonically. "Ok", she said after thinking for a moment. "Which department do you belong to?", she asked casually as they started climbing the stairs. 'Think fast you moron, and bluff convincingly at this time at least.' "Physics Department", he mumbled somehow.
"Which year?"
"First"
"You are kidding, I am also in first year Physics, I never saw you around."
'Oh shit, why does this has to happen?', he thought for a long time and said, "I am international student, came here for the 9 month internship from India, just joined the college yesterday", Rohan tried to manage the situation.
She swapped her ID card into the door panel and opened the door for him. Both entered into the library, it was the huge library with 5 floors. She went near the stairs and said, "See ya later" and started climbing up. "One more thing", Rohan interrupted suddenly, "Can you tell me where can I find about the lecturers in Physics Department", she pointed towards the computer room across the hall.
"You can see everything on the intranet there."
"Do I need Id card there?"
"No, once you entered the library, everything is accessible.", she smiled.
"Thanks a lot..."
"Stephnie", she smiled and went away.
Rohan went inside the computer room and sat on the PC, he started the browser and opened the intranet. After searching here and there for some time, finally he got the physics department website and went into the Lecturer record. His heartbeats started increasing. He searched for the name, 'George Thompson', in the list but he could not find it there. His heart missed the beat, his hands started sweating even in the Air conditioned environment. 'This is all wrong, the professor has to be there', he argued with himself. 'Or may be it was foolish of me to come into the future, he could have left the job and went to some other place.' He sat there helplessly, tears started rolling out of his eyes. He moped them and once again typed the same name in the search window and hit enter. Number of results came back, the firstresult was the University weekly magazine of the August edition. He felt relaxed and clicked the link immediately. the page opened up and Rohan started reading it.
'It was proud moment for the University when the honorable scientist Dr. George Thompson was declared as the first Civilian being selected for landing on the USA's space center. It was the huge victory of NASA over their Russian Counterpart by launching the bigger space center in the GEO orbit. Dr. George Thompson, was the major part and the influencing force for the whole mission. The reports have confirmed that Dr. Thompson is starting his historical journey on 19th Aug.....'
Rohan was staring at the desktop helplessly. The feeling of depression had pervaded over his mind and soul. 'Everything is lost, I can not reach the man in this time either.', the strong urge rose into his mind to go back to his house and tell everything to his parents and ask them for help. But then he remembered the words by Prof. Ford, "Changes in future will trigger the butterfly effect." He closed his eyes and started praying, "God, please let this be dream. please end this nightmare and wake me up in my home", suddenly he felt the hand on his shoulder, "Excuse me sir, you must accompany me.", he turned his head and to his horror, he was facing the same guard he had dodged 3 years ago.
